In an effort to better inform residents and businesses, the Plainsboro FireCompany will be at the Plainsboro Public Library at 9 Van Doren Street,Plainsboro to promote National Fire Prevention Week. The community event will be from noon until 4p.m. on October 11, 2015.
Fire trucks and firefighting apparatus will be on-site for children and adults to explore. Local members of the Plainsboro Fire Company will also be there to answer questions and show children not to be afraid of their friendly neighborhood firefighters. In addition, the County “Fire Safety House” will be there to teach children what to do if a fire starts in their home. Here are four basic fire safetytips:
If a fire occurs in your home, GET OUT, STAY OUT and CALL for help.
Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas.
Test smoke alarms once a month, if they’re not working, change the batteries.
Talk with all household members about a fire escape plan and practice the plan twice a year.
National Fire Prevention Week is focused on promoting fire safety and prevention. Many potential fire hazards go undetected because people simply do not take steps to fireproof their home.To learn more about the Plainsboro Fire Company, visit http://plainsborofire.com or see some of the Plainsboro Fire Company’s firetrucks visit http://plainsborofire.com/apparatus For further information contact thelibrary’s Youth Services department at: (609) 275-2897 or visit the PlainsboroPublic Library’s website at www.lmxac.org/plainsboro where you can receive information concerning this and other programs.
